The benefits of using our central store include:

  • Improved marketability of your grain
  • Ability of the store to blend grain on site – resulting in improved value
  • Ability to test and segregate grain according to its quality standardThis avoids the situation where, in a farm store, a farmer can unknowingly spoil better grain by mixing in grain that has a lower protein or Hagberg reading
  • To assist in the marketing of grain, the store is registered with the LIFFE as a Grain Futures Store
  • Initial cost of storage space is significantly less per tonne than the cost of on-farm drying, cleaning and storage facilities 
  • Peace of mind - farmers who store their grain at Wessex Grain can be free of the worry associated with grain storage such as insect infestation, rejected loads and grain being collected at inconvenient times.
  • Grain can be marketed by the farmer or can be included in one of the Wessex Grain pools

Farmers:

  • Can make use of the maximum price carry in the market
  • Will have a timely collection of grain, seven days a week during harvest
  • Are guaranteed minimum premiums on milling wheat
  • Benefit from subsidised haulage at harvest into store
  • Free of the worry associated with grain storage such as insect infestation and rejected loads.
  • Benefits from big economies of scale

To assist our farmers, Wessex Grain has developed two options for storage contracts at its central store:

3 Year Storage Contract

The first option is a NEW three-year storage contract. This is for those farmers who wish to try our store without making a long-term commitment, or for existing storage members who wish to increase their storage space for a limited period.

 

 

Short-term storage contracts may be converted to long-term contracts and will be entitled to a reduction in price off the long term contract price.

Full Storage Contract

We also have space available for long-term contracts. A farmer may purchase a storage contract by making a capital investment in Wessex Grain Ltd.

The above contracts are subject to the availability of space within the store.

Farmers with storage space to sell

We have a few farmers who wish to sell their storage space. We are happy to put any prospective buyers in contact with them – but we’ll leave the negotiations to you.
