Wessex Grain is a major supplier of grain maize for animal feed within the South West. Premium markets are also available in the micronising and pet food markets, depending on suitability of sample.
Growers should be aware that:

• Adequate provision should be made for drying and conditioning of grain maize. Moistures can typically reach 30% at harvesting. It should be dried quickly to prevent build-up of moulds and toxins.
• Grain maize requires a specially adapted combine header
• Quality is crucial. Fusarium and burnt grains will lead to problems with marketing.
